These Are the Reasons You Get a Burnt Taste from Vaping

One of the worst things you can experience when vaping is that burnt taste. It’s like this: you take a puff, expecting it to be the flavour you chose, but it’s not—it tastes awful.

The flavour of your e-juice is crucial to your vaping experience, which is why you need to ensure you get the most out of it. When it’s off, and you start to get a burnt taste, you need to fix the problem immediately. So, what should you do?

The Reason Behind the Burnt Taste

There are several reasons your vape produces a burnt taste, they are:

  • High wattage: The higher the wattage, the more vapour your device can produce. However, every coil has a recommended maximum wattage to vape at so you get the experience and flavour you want. It’s easy to get carried away and go beyond the limits, and this can cause a burnt taste. This happens because the coil gets too hot and vaporises. It can also be because the e-liquid evaporates too fast.

  • Chain vaping: When you’re doing nothing or stressed out, it’s easy to take several puffs out of the device. However, chain smoking isn’t the way to do this right. The device should be able to rest because chain vaping can affect the lifespan of the coils significantly. Remember, when you vape, the battery power heats the vape coil to heat the e-liquid soaked into the wick and evaporates to produce vapour. However, you don’t let your device have enough time to do all these things that can cause a burnt taste. This is because the wick becomes too dry that results in dry hits and a burnt taste.

  • Unprimed coils: Priming your coils before you replace them is important. However, if you don’t do this, you can get that burnt taste. This is because the coil must be primed with e-juice and fully saturated before vaping to ensure it doesn’t burn when heated by the power supply.

  • Unsoaked wick: When the wick isn’t soaked thoroughly, it could result in a burnt taste. This often happens when you rush through coil changes, or you don’t take the time to prime your coils. Also, if you puff immediately on your newly refilled vape tank, you could get a burnt taste.

  • Empty tank: A vape tank that isn’t full of e-liquid can cause a burnt taste. This is because there’s not enough to be evaporated by the heated coil. It leaves the wicking holes exposed.

  • High-VG e-liquid: E-liquids come in various formulations, and each one contains different levels of Vegetable Glycerine (VG) and Propylene Glycol (PG). Always consider the right formulation for your tank; otherwise, you could get a burnt taste.
