The ultimate beginner’s guide to vaping!

If you’re trying to quit smoking traditional cigarettes, vaping is a great option. It’s helped thousands of people make the transition away from traditional cigarettes. However, what is vaping, and how do you get started? In the following article, we’re going to take a closer look at how to choose the right vaporiser for you, how vaporisers work, and what type of e-liquid you should get!

If you’ve been searching for a beginner’s guide to vaping, then you’ve come to the right place!

Choosing the Right Vaporiser for You!

Vaping starts with choosing the right vaporiser for you. When it comes to vaporisers or e-cigarettes, you have two main options:

  1. Disposable E-cigarettes – Disposable cigarettes are generally pre-loaded with e-liquid flavours and ready to vape. You simply pick them up, and they’re ready to vape. They’re a great way to experience vaping, but over time can become expensive if you’re going through a lot of them.
  2. Refillable Mods – Refillable sub-ohm mods and pen vaporisers give you a lot more customisable options compared to disposable cigarettes. However, you will need to replace coils and seals. Refillable mods may cost more upfront but can be cheaper in the long run if you continue vaping.

 How Do Vaporisers Work?

Regardless of which vaporiser you choose, they all work similarly. When you inhale or press the firing button, a power source, usually a rechargeable battery, sends current to the coil or atomiser. The coil then heats up, turning the e-liquid in the tank or chamber into a vapour which is then inhaled via the mouthpiece.

With disposable vaporisers or pod vapes, the coil and tank are usually one enclosed unit. When you upgrade to a sub-ohm mod, you can take all of these components apart. Coils typically need to be replaced every two weeks, depending on how heavily you vape and what type of e-liquid you vape.

What Type of E-Liquid Should You Get?

When it comes to e-liquid, you have a lot of options. There are literally thousands of different flavours for you to choose from! However, what you really need to focus on is the PG/VG ratio.

  • Propylene Glycol (PG) – PG is responsible for the ‘throat hit’ feeling when you vape. It has no flavour but carries flavour well.
  • Vegetable Glycerin (VG) – VG is responsible for vapour production. It’s a thick and sweet liquid and doesn’t carry flavour well.

Most new vaporise start with an e-liquid that’s 50/50 VG/PG or 70/30 VG/PG and a high nicotine level of about 12mg – 16mg. Once you transition away from cigarettes 100%, it’s a good time to start reducing the amount of nicotine your e-liquid contains.

When you first start vaping, take your time and experiment with different flavours and ratios until you discover your favourite!
