4 Ways to Fix an Uncomfortably Hot Vaping Device

Have you ever reached for your vape device only to be shocked by how hot it is?

Many people have experienced this, and fortunately for you, it doesn't mean much in terms of danger, especially if you are using a regulated device! Vape devices, specifically the coils, are designed to get hot to vaporise the liquid. The batteries themselves also get warm as they are used. Apart from this, there are many other reasons a vape can get particularly warm, but overall, it shouldn't be too much of a cause of concern! After a little time to cool down, they should be good to go.

However, if you find that your vape is getting uncomfortably hot and you want to fix this, there are some things you can do to stop your vape from getting too hot. To give you an idea, here are four ways to do so:

1. Use the right coils

The coils you pick should be suited to your preferred vaping style.

If you are a DTL (direct-to-lung) type of user, then look for coils that work for that, and the same goes for MTL (mouth-to-lung) vaping. Using the wrong coils can lead to restricted airflow, which leads to an extra hot coil, thus translating to a hotter vape device. Also, you may find yourself readjusting the wattage much higher than usual, contributing to the heat!

2. Check the wattage

Speaking of wattages, the higher the wattage you use for your vapes, the hotter it is going to get. In many cases, many vapers will go around 50 to 75 watts for their perfect vape hit. However, some may push it as high as 90 or even a hundred and higher!

While the wattage you pick will generally be based on the experience you prefer, always remind yourself that the higher you go, the hotter it gets. As such, using lower wattages is a great way to keep your vape on the cool side.

3. Adjust the airflow

When there is not enough airflow going through the coils, the heat lingers around for much longer. This increases the likelihood of overheating, which can lead to a hot device.

You can tell this is happening if your vapour feels too hot. If this is the case, open up the airflow to add more air to your drugs or lower the wattage. This way, the vapour won't be too hot, and the coils won't end up overheating as well.

4. Check the battery

While quite rare in terms of the cause of an overheated vape, it can still be a cause—and a serious one at that. Batteries are generally subject to plenty of heating, reaching temperatures of over 60 Celsius. In the case that none of the other reasons we've shared here is the cause of the overly hot vape, it might just be the battery being the problem!

If you see that the batteries are bulging or you hear hissing sounds, the only thing you can do is to put it somewhere away from any flammables to leave it to cool. After that, purchasing a new battery might be something you need to do, as this might be a sign that the previous battery was malfunctioning! Just always make sure to buy high-quality batteries even if the price is higher; that way, you can ensure that they last longer and won’t become a heating hazard.

Conclusion

Remember, a warm vape device is completely normal. Due to how it works, heat will be produced no matter what! However, if you are worried about how hot your vape device is, it is always good to be a little extra cautious.

Try out all the tips we've shared above and see which one works. If none of them do, the best advice we can give you is to most likely switch out to a new device that fits perfectly with what you need. There can be many causes of an overheating vape, but none of them should be ignored if the overheating problem is causing you more worry than fun.
